The Forsaken are thirteen powerful Dreadlords who are the primary servants of the Dark One, called the Shadowsouled by the Aiel. Most of them were sealed in the Bore by the Dragon and the Hundred Companions. Ishamael was not trapped, and roamed the world freely, sometimes calling himself Ba'alzamon. At the beginning of the Wheel of Time series, some or all of them were free.
