Southern Boll Hold, sometimes called South Boll, is located in the southern tip of the western peninsula of the Northern Continent. Its current Lord Holder is Sangel (?)
It was named after Emily Boll. According to The Dragonlover's Guide to Pern, the Hold was founded by Emily Boll and Pierre de Courcis, and was initially called simply Southern Hold, but was renamed Southern-Boll Hold after Emily Boll's death in the year 33 AL. According to The Chronicles of Pern: First Fall, however, it was initially called Boll Hold, founded in the year 17 by Pierre de Courcis, a year after Boll's death.
