Spring Pole

The Spring Pole is part of the Bel Tine celebrations in the Two Rivers. A straight, tall tree is shorn of its branches and placed upright in a hole. Women put up the tree before Bel Tine proper, and the men act surprised to find it there on the day. At noon, unmarried women dance around the pole, entwining it with long, coloured ribbons, while the unmarried men sing.
